Virtual Camp Information
What is Virtual Camp?
Along with wanting to develop curriculum for use in homes and churches we also want to provide a space where those who would prefer to join in with others from around North Texas could experience our curriculum together. We have enlisted the help of some of your favorite summer camp directors and volunteers to help guide our campers through our 2020 summer curriculum.
Students who RSVP for camp will be sent an email with instructions on how to log in and what supplies may be needed for the activities they will be participating in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you explain why the camps are labeled Part 1 and 2?
We basically took our summer curriculum and created 10 individual lessons. We will cover 5 of those lessons in Part 1 camps. We will cover a different 5 lessons in Part 2. Each camp covered the same "W" questions about God but uses different scriptures, discussion questions and activities.
Do I need to attend both camps?
Each camp is designed to be self contained, meaning if you only attend Part 1 or Part 2 you will still get a full camp experience. Of course if you attend both camps you will get a more complete experience however, we understand that may not be possible with everyone schedules.
Are there any costs associated with registering for virtual camp?
Virtual Camp registration is completely free. We want as many young people to attend our camps as possible. There may be a need for things like basic art supplies but we have worked hard to keep the supplies to a minimum and items that you can find around your house. Prior to camp those who register will get an email with information on what supplies they might need.
How long does camp last?
Virtual Camps are expected to last around an hour and half. Some camps may also offer optional times for campers to log on and participate in interest groups or worship. These opportunities will be communicated after campers have registered for camp.
What time does Camp start?
Start times for Camps may be different depending on which camp you are registering for. That information can be found my clicking on the names of the camps below.
What does a day at virtual camp look like?
Each camp will begin with everyone logging on to Zoom at the camps scheduled start time. Our camp directors for the week will begin by giving an introduction to the days lesson, a large group activity for the entire camp before splitting campers into their small groups using breakout rooms. While in small groups campers will be led through the curriculum and activities. After about 45 minutes everyone will come back together to close out camp for the day. During the closing campers will be given fun (optional) challenges to do prior to meeting again the next day.
Are volunteers ministry safe and background checked like at summer camp?
Yes, all volunteers are ministry safe and background checked prior to camp. Those forms and certifications are stored securely in the event that documentation is needed.
What other ways are you working to keep campers safe?
Along with ministry safe and back ground checking our volunteers, we will also be recording all Zoom meetings and breakouts. This allows us to be able to keep both our campers and volunteers safe while in large group and small group settings. In order to do this we will of course need your consent. When you register your child for camp you will find a terms sheet that will allow us to record these sessions.
